Who We Are

Hearthmakers is a cooperatively owned and community-based business that works to provide renewable energy and environmental services and products to members in the Southeastern Ontario region, including the counties of Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox and Addington, Frontenac, and Leeds and Grenville. Hearthmakers Energy Cooperative was incorporated as a non-profit cooperative in November of 1999.

Hearthmakers offers its members energy cost savings, community education and the opportunity to be owners of a renewable energy technology. Hearthmakers is a founding member of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association and continues to work with organizations of like purposes to help Ontario create a sustainable future.

Hearthmakers is also a member of the Green Communities Canada. The Green Communities Canada builds sustainable communities in Ontario and Canada through activities that conserve resources (e.g., energy, water, and waste), prevent pollution, and protect greenspaces and natural ecological process.

Cooperative Structure

Hearthmakers is concerned with community ownership for community benefits. Incorporated as a not-for-profit cooperative, at the annual general meeting our members elect a board of directors and make choices as to the business products, services, offered as well as the overall mission for the years ahead.

The Environment

Hearthmakers members participate in energy efficiency visits and are encouraged to participate in the cooperative's environmental activities. Improving your home's energy efficiency will save you money, improve home comfort and property value, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Hearthmakers is a community-based enterprise that provides its members with healthy choices in the use of energy. It has a commitment to regularly upgrade its employees professional training to maintain the highest level of customer service in the energy services industry.
