Faith Building Audits

To help your faith community reach its environmental goals and reduce energy consumption, Hearthmakers is pleased to offer building audits in Eastern Ontario

Faith organizations often have energy and water requirements different from the residential sector. In many cases, large, older buildings that are often used only at certain times of the week can give rise to high utility bills which divert funds from other organizational activities and goals. Energy prices continue to rise - Ontario has just announced a major hike in electricity rates – taken from an April 16, 2010 Toronto Star article titled Price of electricity jumps 12 per cent: “The vast majority of Ontarians face sharply higher power costs after the province’s energy board raised the regulated price of electricity by 12 per cent, effective May 1.”

A building audit will identify energy efficiency opportunities and help guide your Faith Group to make the necessary changes resulting in: reduced consumption; reduced greenhouse gas emissions; improved comfort level. Recognizing that faith groups have different levels of needs and resources, we are offering four levels of service as outlined below.

Basic Audit

  • 2-4 hour walk-through
  • Overview of lighting, heating system, building envelope, insulation, water usage, etc.
  • Basic report with recommendations and photos where applicable

Advanced Energy Audit

  • Comprehensive building audit to identify potential savings
  • Measurement and inspection of the building envelope
  • Inspection of the heating and cooling systems
  • Review of the energy use of all electrical appliances and fixtures
  • Full report prepared with specialized modeling software

Full Electrical Audit

  • Comprehensive electrical audit to identify potential savings
  • An inventory and measurement of the energy use of all electrical appliances and fixtures
  • Full report prepared with specialized modeling software
  • Qualifies for OPA Audit Funding* up to $.10/ sq. ft.  to a maximum of 50% of audit cost whichever is less (i.e. $500 rebate on 5000 sq. ft.)

Comprehensive Electrical and Energy Audit

  • Both the Advanced Energy and Electrical Audits combined into one report
  • Estimate ROI - Return On Investment / Payback (you provide the quotes)
  • Qualifies for OPA Audit Funding* up to $.10/ sq. ft.  to a maximum of 50% of audit cost whichever is less (i.e. $500 rebate on 5000 sq. ft.)
  • May also qualify for OPA Retrofit Funding**

Please note there are size surcharges of $50 for every 1000 ft2 over 6500 ft2 and for travel beyond 50 kms round-trip.
