Deregulation

In Ontario's new competitive electricity market, consumers can choose from whom to purchase electricity. For information on how Ontario's deregulated electricity market operates, please see the Halton Hills Hydro Market Information page.

On behalf of the membership, Hearthmakers will calculate the members total electrical needs, (aggregated demand), request bids from retailers, such as Toronto Hydro, and review price offers from a minimum of three retailers, researching their background and reliability. The energy cooperative will then suggest the best offer to the membership for their democratic decision from, at least three offers. A majority vote will decide the retailer, and the electricity package for electrical needs of the cooperative.
