Employment Opportunity: Bookkeeper

Hearthmakers Energy Co-operative (HEC) is a Kingston-based enterprising non-profit organization that provides services and programs to improve the environmental sustainability of Eastern Ontario homes and communities. Current programs focus on home energy efficiency and groundwater protection. Hearthmakers is a founding member of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association and a full member of Green Communities Canada.

HEC is seeking to fill the role of Bookkeeper (part-time)

Description of Position

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper will provide comprehensive bookkeeping services on-site. Based in downtown Kingston

Outline of Duties

  • Recording all transactions
  • Entering and maintaining all A/R and A/P, General Ledgers
  • Reconciling bank statements, customer accts
  • Remitting to Gov’t: GST, payroll MERCs, etc
  • Preparing and making weekly deposits
  • Assisting with budget preparation, reconciliation
  • Preparing statements monthly/yearly
  • Preparing year-end docs, coordinating with auditors

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience
  • Solid knowledge of Simply Accounting, Excel
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent communication skills

Compensation: $20/hr x 7.5 hrs/week (minimum). Some flexibility as to which day(s)
