Hearthmakers Receives License to Retail Electricity

Hearthmakers has received a license from the Ontario Energy Board to sell electricity to members and others in the province of Ontario. The primary focus of this retailing of power will be what has become known as "green power" from renewable sources. Orders for delivery of green power will be received by Hearthmakers and delivered in the usual fashion, through the wires! Billing systems are currently being designed and confirmed. The co-operative hopes to begin marketing this power by the end of May, 2004.

ecoENERGY is an ecoACTION initiative developed by Natural Resources Canada. By using energy more efficiently, Canadians can reduce emissions produced through energy use and contribute to clean air, water and energy and a healthy environment for all Canadians. Hearthmakers delivers ecoENERGY under agreement with Green Communities Canada. ecoENERGY Initiatives help Canadians use energy more efficiently, boost renewable energy supplies and develop cleaner-energy technologies.
