Hearthmakers is proud to introduce the Greater Kingston Trade Winds Project. The Greater Kingston Trade Winds Project is about making changes to city-owned buildings so that electrical and heating energy systems for those buildings are more efficiently operated. These changes reduce the amount of money spent in wasted energy costs as well as the emission of gases into the environment that cause pollution and climate change. Some of the money that is saved from energy costs due to the increased efficiency of these buildings is directed towards the purchase of electricity generated by wind turbines on Wolfe Island and elsewhere. These wind power purchases will support local efforts to build wind turbines.
