Province Announces Continuing Support for Home Retrofit Grants

In spite of the recent Natural Resources Canada announcement that they are not allowing any new clients to access federal ecoENERGY grants, the Province of Ontario has announced it will continue supporting the home retrofit program, and offer a $150 rebate off the cost of a pre-retrofit audit, as well as provide up to $5,000 in home energy retrofit grants through their Home Energy Savings Program. This is welcome news for those homeowners who missed getting into the ecoENERGY program before the March 31 2010 deadline for the federal program.

Even though the federal government is not offering grants, it will continue to process new ecoENERGY files in order to facilitate the provincial grant program. Homeowners can book an ecoENERGY evaluation by calling Hearthmakers at 613-547-8122
