Home Information

Please note that this service can only evaluate homes that occupy all the space from the basement up to the roof, including most row houses and duplexes. If you live in a house that has been subdivided, we can only evaluate the whole house, not just part of it: if there is an exterior door into an entrance or hallway that provides access to all units, there should be no problem. As well, we need access to all parts of your house, including the attic and furnace. If full access isn't available on the day you booked, and if we need to come back to complete the evaluation, an extra travel charge of $50 will apply.

Pricing

The initial visit is $200 + GST: $350 + GST paid to Hearthmakers, minus $150 provincial rebate mailed directly to the homeowner — this is automated, you do not have to apply.

There is an additional cost for homes over 2500 sq ft ($25 for every additional 500 sq ft).

The post-retrofit visit to verify the improvements and quantify the grant amount is $150 + GST.

Payment: At this time we DO NOT accept credit cards. Personal cheques are preferred method of payment.

Travel fees: There are no travel fees for homes within 75 km round-trip from downtown Kingston. Beyond that it is $0.50 per km.

IMPORTANT: Please have your property tax statement available for the advisor. In order to process the provincial rebate of $150, the province requires us to verify that the person listed as owner on the tax statement is the one recieving the rebate, and to make note of the tax role number.

I agree to pay the appropriate price for my home evaluation on the day of my initial evaluation by cheque payable to Hearthmakers Energy Cooperative, and to have the property tax statement available.

Scheduling Information

Please choose a preferred time for your evaluation. Morning evaluations generally begin at 9am and afternoon evaluations at 1pm, and both last approximately two to three hours. We cover the area to the south bounded by Quinte West (Trenton), Marmora, Maberly, Westport and Brockville, Ontario, and appointments outside of Kingston may require a later start time, which we will discuss with you when we phone to schedule your evaluation. After you submit this form, someone from Hearthmakers will contact you to book your appointment.
